The Volunteering Show

Wednesdays 7pm-8pm

The team of presenters explore the many ways you can help make a difference in your community by becoming a volunteer. Every week you can hear from representatives of charities and not for profit organisations in our area who will explain how you can get involved, help them and have fun in the process.

Volunteering is for everyone: young and old, retired, employed, unemployed, student, regardless of background. People do it to meet new friends, learn new skills, improve their CV and employment prospects.

The Volunteering Show is brought to you with Coffin Mew LLP Solicitors - the help you need - when you need it.

Last week on the Volunteering Show

We had Ellie in the studio last week, bringing a guest from the Fairtrade foundation with her to talk about Fairtrade fortnight 23rd Feb to 8th March.

Fairtrade is nowadays a well recognised brand, supporting producers and workers in developing countries who have been disadvantaged by the conventional trading system. With Fairtrade, producers and workers are guaranteed a minimum price for their output, a price which is sufficient to cover the cost of sustainable production.

This was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the great work of this organisation. It's more than just coffee - this is one of the fastest growing social enterprises worldwide.

2 weeks ago on the Volunteering Show

We had Craig Beetlestone on the show, Manager of Community Transport for Portsmouth. Joining him was Samantha James, Age Concern's volunteer events coordinator.
