Whether you are already a committed enthusiast, looking for a family day out or merely curious about this fascinating hobby, the South Hants Model Railway Club’s annual exhibition on Saturday18th November has something for you. The exhibition is being held at the Admiral Lord Nelson School in Dundas Lane, PO3 5XT (just over the road from the Ocean Park Retail Centre) We shall have eleven working layouts on display, in various scales and gauges showing many of the different approaches to this hobby that make it suitable for all ranges of age and ability. Layout will include Westcliff (Railway of the Month in the October 2023 Railway Modeller) and the club’s historical model of the long-gone Lee-on-the-Solent Station. There will be a comprehensive group of traders at the exhibition. These will range from general model railway traders selling “ready to run” locomotives, carriages, track and scenic items to those dealing with “kits and bits” to meet the specialist requirements of the fine scale aspects of the hobby. Tools and railway books will also be on sale. A number of experienced model makers will be on hand to show you ‘how it’s done’. And, of course, no exhibition would be complete without Thomas! He and his colleagues will be present on the “Widley Saint George” layout where younger visitors can come and drive the trains themselves. The exhibition opens from 10.30 am until 4.30 pm. Ticket prices are: Adults £7. Unaccompanied children (16 and under) go free. Free parking is available. A range of Refreshments will be available.
Whatever the reason you're awake before everyone else, Victoria brings you great music, friendly chat and all the information you need to set you up for the day ahead in Pompey.
