LISTEN: Iwan Thomas MBE On His New Olympics Broadcasting Role

Express FM's Jake Smith sits down with former Team GB Olympian Iwan Thomas MBE to talk about his new broadcasting opportunity with discovery+ for the upcoming Olympic Games.

The now 50-year-old is best known for his achievements on the running track, having represented Team GB at the Olympics, World Championships, European Championships, European Cup and IAAF World Cup, as well as Wales at the Commonwealth Games too.

Thomas, who hails from Farnborough, has featured on many family favourite TV shows over the years since retiring from sprinting, appearing on hits such as ‘Through The Keyhole’, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘Celebrity Masterchef’.

He also became and remains the only celebrity to have won the celebrity edition of Channel 4’s ‘Hunted’, managing to evade capture and win the series in 2022, which was raising money for Stand Up To Cancer.

This year, the 7-time gold medalist will be heading across the English Channel and taking his position in the commentary box to provide his expertise for the discovery+ coverage of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Jake caught up with the Welshman this week to look ahead to the games, discuss his new broadcasting role and reminisce on his past sprinting achievements.

You can watch every moment of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris live and exclusively on discovery+, the streaming home of the Olympics!

The games commence on Friday the 26th of July and will run through to Sunday the 11th of August.
