Colby Bishop Signs Contract Extension

Blues forward Colby Bishop has today put pen-to-paper on a long-term deal.

The 28-year-old will remain contracted with the club until the summer of 2028. His previous contract was due to run out at the end of this season.

Bishop joined Portsmouth, then managed by Danny Cowley, from Accrington Stanley in July 2022 and has since found the back of the net 50 times from 119 appearances.

He surpassed the 20-goal mark in each of his first 2 seasons with the Blues.

So far this campaign, which began late for him personally owing to emergency heart surgery in pre-season, the striker has scored 5 league goals.

In an official club statement, head coach John Mousinho said: "We're delighted that Colby has signed a new contract and that a player of his calibre will be at the club for the long-term.

"He's been a vital part of what that team have achieved ever since I arrived here and his goalscoring record speaks for itself.

"We saw what a boost it gave to everyone inside Fratton Park when he returned for that game against Preston a few months ago.

"I've been impressed with how quickly he has adapted to playing in the Championship because as well as his threat in front of goal, he offers so much to the team."

Bishop was named Pompey's Players' Player of the Season for 2022/23 and selected in the PFA League One Team of the Year last season after helping the Blues to the title.
