Former Portsmouth and England shotstopper David James MBE will be in the city this weekend to help relaunch Utilita Energy's 'Football Rebooted' programme.
Utilita Energy is joining forces with the award-winning Pompey In The Community to launch Tesco's first-ever football boot collection box on Saturday the 18th of January, ahead of Portsmouth's Championship clash with Middlesbrough at Fratton Park.
David James MBE, who was in goal for Pompey for the 2008 FA Cup win over Cardiff City at Wembley, will be at the event on Saturday at Fratton Tesco Extra, Portsmouth (PO4 8FD).
The aim is to encourage people to donate their pre-loved football boots and help PitC to make them available to families, clubs and schools in need.
Head of Marketing, Fundraising and Commercial Partnerships at Pompey In The Community, Jodie Anthony had this to say when speaking with Express FM about the relaunch of Football Rebooted earlier this week:
Loretta Spridgeon at Utilita said in an official press release: "Since its launch in 2021, the successful Football Rebooted campaign has already collected and reallocated thousands of quality football boots, saving hard-pressed families a small fortune and helping to reduce landfill and carbon emissions."
Pompey mascot Nelson will pose for fan selfies and anyone kindly donating their football boots will also get the chance to win merchandise signed by David James himself!
