The centre-back has signed a short-term deal with the club until the end of the season.
Milošević will become a Portsmouth player subject to international clearance after leaving Swedish top flight outfit AIK at the end of 2024, having helped them to qualify for the UEFA Conference League.
The 33-year-old hails from Sweden and has been capped 9 times at senior level by his country, making his debut against Finland in 2013. He turned professional in 2009 after signing a contract with Vasalunds IF, having come through their youth ranks.
In 2011, Milošević won the Allsvenskan (Sweden's top flight) Award for Best Newcomer and then 7 years later in 2018, helped guide AIK to the league title and thus champions of Sweden.
Milošević was also part of the Sweden squad that beat Portugal in the Final to win the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
Pompey head coach John Mousinho said in a club statement announcing the signing: "The injuries we've suffered this season means we're short on defensive options going into the final stage of the campaign.
"We scoured the markets to see who we could bring in and believe we have found the best player available.
"Alexander has a wealth of experiencing competing at a high level of the game and has relatively recent playing experience.
"He's kept himself very fit and we feel that he should soon be ready to slot into the side and help us in the Championship."
Milošević fills the final spot in John Mousinho's 25-man Championship squad, which does not include players under the age of 21.
The defender has played in the 2nd tier of English football before, competing for Nottingham Forest in 2019 and making 12 appearances, scoring once.
