This weekend's FA Women's National League - Southern Premier Division clash between Oxford United and Portsmouth Women is previewed by head coach Jay Sadler.
The Blues go into this one off the back of consecutive away wins at Ipswich Town, who they defeated first a fortnight ago in the National League Cup before then dispatching them by a goal to nil at the AGL Arena last Sunday in the league.
Leeta Rutherford scored the only goal of that game as Pompey extended their lead over Hashtag United at the top of the division to 3 points, whilst still having a game in hand.
The victory was somewhat dampened when defender Jazz Younger was forced off with an injury, later identified as the hyper-extending of her knee. Blues boss Sadler confirmed to Express FM that Jazz went for a scan on Wednesday and the club are now awaiting the results to determine the severity of the injury.
Annie Rolf is also expected to miss the trip to Oxford with a hamstring issue whilst striker Emma Jones could make a return from the sidelines after a few weeks out.
Oxford United are Portsmouth's next opponents and Jake Smith, host of The Football Hour, caught up with head coach Jay Sadler ahead of Sunday's trip to Court Place Farm - Listen below:
The reverse of this fixture saw Jay Sadler's side run out 4-0 winners over The U's at Westleigh Park in September.
A victory for the Pompey Women this weekend could see them extend their lead at the summit of the FA Women's National League - Southern Premier Division to 6 points. Only 1 team can be promoted to the Championship at the end of the season.
