Pompey To Visit Croatia For Pre-Season Training Camp

Preparations for life back in the Championship will commence with a pre-season training camp in Croatia for Portsmouth Football Club.

There are just 50 days until the 2024/25 EFL season kicks off with 1 game, which is yet to be confirmed, schedule to kick things off on Friday the 9th of August.

The Blues will be playing Championship football for the first time in 12 years when the new campaign rolls around and in preparation for that, a pre-season training camp has been organised by the club.

For the 3rd consecutive year, Pompey will venture abroad for some warm weather training, however unlike the previous 2 trips, there is unlikely to be a friendly taking place this time around. Express FM understands that the intention for this week away, which has been confirmed to be taking place in Croatia, is for the new recruits to gel with their teammates and to ensure a good amount of training can take place without the distraction of a match to organise too.

Despite this, there is no ruling out the slim possibility of a friendly being arranged for the time Pompey are out in Croatia, should an opportunity arise.

Last year, John Mousinho's side enjoyed time away in Spain and played a friendly at the Estadio Jose Burgos de Quintana, where they beat Europa FC by 1 goal to 0 in the Spanish sunshine. In 2022, the Blues were in Spain again the previous season but in a different region - At the Pinatar Arena where Danny Cowley's side ran out 2-0 winners against Qatar SC.
