19-year-old Tom Waddingham has today put pen-to-paper on a 3-and-a-half-year deal at Fratton Park.
The striker signs for an undisclosed fee from A-League outfit Brisbane Roar, where he has so far this season scored 4 goals and registered 1 assist from 11 appearances.
Overall for Brisbane Roar's senior team, Waddingham has scored 11 in 34 games. Ruben Zadkovich's side currently sit with just 1 win at the bottom of the division in 13th having collected just 5 points from 13 games.
Waddingham was born on the 5th of April, 2005 and came through the youth ranks of Edge Hill United and Brisbane Roar, turning pro in 2022 with Brisbane Roar NPL, the youth team who compete in the National Premier Leagues, the second level of the football pyramid in Australia.
He has also been capped 8 times for the Australia Under-20s, scoring 2 goals. For the Under-23s, Waddingham has featured just once.
At the end of the 2023/24 season, the striker was named the Brisbane Roar Young Player of the Season.
Blues boss John Mousinho said in an official club statement: "He is a really exciting young player, who is coming over here with bags of potential.
"Thomas has already made a real impact playing in the A-League this season and will be ready to come here and try to do the same for us in the Championship.
"He works incredibly hard off the ball and scores goals, while is also a big physical presence, so we're very much looking forward to working with him."
Due to his age, Waddingham will not need to be registered as part of John Mousinho's 25-man Championship squad.
