Pompey Live's Kirsty Roxanne provides the lowdown on the Blues' next Championship opponent, Hull City.
Another defeat on home soil leaves John Mousinho’s side with just 1 win in 12 Championship matches and fighting at the bottom of the table.
The Blues will be looking to put aside the past few fixtures and look ahead to the next challenge they face.
A trip up North to take on the lower half of the table side Hull City at the MKM Stadium.
MANAGER
In the dugout for The Tigers is German head coach Tim Walter.
Walter played amateur football for SG Dielheim, ASV Durlach and FC Heidelsheim, mainly as an attacking midfielder.
Walter managed the likes of Bundesliga 2 side Holstein Kiel with his first professional match in charge ending in a 3-0 victory over Hamburger SV.
The now 48-year-old also managed Stuttgart and Hamburger SV, however both roles ended in Walter being sacked.
In May of this year, Walter was appointed head coach of Hull City on a 3-year deal and so far this campaign, he has overseen 3 victories, 5 draws and 4 defeats.
ONE TO WATCH
One to keep tabs on is 22-year-old Mohamed Belloumi.
Belloumi started his professional career with MC Oran in his home nation Algeria, however he left the club for Europe in September 2021.
The winger made the move to Portugal, joining Liga Portugal 2 club S.C. Farense.
Following promotion to the Primeira Liga, he extended his contract with the club.
In August, Belloumi signed a 4-year-deal with The Tigers and went on to score 2 goals in a 4-1 home win against Cardiff City. The number 33 also has 1 assist this season.
TOP SCORER
There are currently 4 different players all with 2 league goals this campaign - Chris Bedia, Kasey Palmer, Xavier Simons and our one to watch, Mohamed Belloumi.
Number 9, Bedia joined Hull this season on a season-long loan deal from Union Berlin.
Palmer, who previously played for Bristol City and Coventry City, is an attacking midfielder who joined The Tigers this season and wears the number 45 shirt.
And midfielder Simons joined Hull originally on loan in 2022 before signing a permanent contract with The Tigers. He went out on loan at the back end of last season with Fleetwood Town but he now wears the number 18 in orange and black stripes.
CURRENT FORM
Hull occupy 15th in the Championship with their last 5 fixtures ending 1 victory, 2 draws and 2 defeats - Walter’s side, like Portsmouth, victorious against QPR at Loftus Road.
Since the year 2000, the Blues and The Tigers have played each other 10 times with Pompey coming out on top with 4 victories, 3 draws and 3 defeats.
The most recent meeting took place at Fratton Park in January 2021 and ended in a 4-0 win for Hull.
