Kirsty Roxanne takes a look at Pompey's next Championship test.

A 2-1 win over Queens Park Rangers at Fratton Park last Saturday made it 3 wins on the bounce for John Mousinho's side, extending the gap to the relegation zone to 9 points.

Next up, it's a trip to Kenilworth Road to take on rock-bottom Luton Town.

MANAGER

Matt Bloomfield is the man in the dugout for The Hatters.

After Rob Edwards left the club by mutual consent at the beginning of this year, Bloomfield made the move from promotion-chasing League One side Wycombe Wanderers.

So far since taking charge, the 41-year-old has overseen 8 matches but picked up only 3 points, which have all accumulated from draws.

Luton have yet to win a game under his stewardship.

ONE TO WATCH

One to keep tabs on this weekend is number 45; Alfie Doughty.

The midfielder joined Luton in the summer of 2022 and made 35 appearances, scoring twice to win promotion to the Premier League that season.

Whilst in the top flight, Doughty scored 2 goals and provided 8 assists across all competitions.

The 25-year-old has registered 1 goal and 4 assists so far this campaign

Striker Carlton Morris is the side’s current leading goalscorer.

Morris joined The Hatters in July 2022 and during his first season, he scored 20 goals and was part of the squad that got Luton promoted to the Premier League.

So far this season, the number 9 has scored 7 goals from 30 Championship appearances.

CURRENT FORM

Matt Bloomfield's side currently sit rock-bottom in 24th in the Championship - 7 places and 11 points behind Portsmouth.

They are winless in 12 league games and have yet to taste victory under the management of their new boss. In fact, the last time they managed to secure maximum points in the league was on the 20th of December, when they had to come from behind to beat fellow-strugglers Derby County 2-1 at Kenilworth Road.

The last time John Moushino’s side met The Hatters was back in August in the Blues’ first home league game of the season, where at Fratton Park the score was levelled at 0-0.

Can the Blues continue their recent run of form and make it 4 consecutive wins?
