Despite the rumours, the defender is staying put with the Fratton faithful.
Jack Whatmough is set to stay with the blues until 2021. He's played a key role in the back-line this season and become a fan favourite. There were murmurings a change of scenery for the 22 year old was just around the corner as Celtic and Rangers were amongst those rumoured to be in talks in signing the youngster.
Whatmough said in the clubs statement: “I’m delighted to be here for another two-and-a-half years. This is a good squad to be a part of and I’m looking forward to the future. From the minute I signed here as a 12-year-old, I’ve always felt wanted. There’s never been any question about the club’s loyalty to me or from me to them."
“I want to be playing as high as I possibly can – and hopefully that will be in the Championship next season."
Whatmough is creeping ever so closer to his 100th appearance with Pompey and it's almost certain that milestone will now be obtainable by the end of the season.
