Beaulieu announces The 999 Show

Beaulieu has announced an exciting new event for its 2017 line-up with The 999 Show on Spring Bank Holiday Monday May 29th to celebrate the work of the emergency services.

Lord Montagu’s sister, Mary Montagu-Scott will become the High Sheriff of Hampshire in April and the special event will help to mark the start of her year in office.

The police, fire and rescue, ambulance, judiciary, coastguard, National Health Service (NHS) and the prison and probation services have all been invited to join the event in the grounds of the National Motor Museum.

Mary Montagu-Scott said: "I am honoured to be taking up the position of High Sheriff of Hampshire, which is an ancient voluntary role to support and encourage those involved with law and order across the county both in the statutory and voluntary sectors. I look forward to celebrating their hard work by inviting them, their families and visitors to this special event at Beaulieu."

Beaulieu Events Manager Judith Maddox said: "We are pleased to offer this exciting new event for 2017.  The 999 Show promises to be a special fun day out for all the family."

The 999 Show will feature a CSI Beaulieu murder mystery at Palace House. Visitors can start to follow the clues on the Beaulieu website at www.beaulieu.co.uk, before signing up to take part on the day. Find out from Specialist Operations Regiment, Royal Military Police forensic investigators how to hunt for clues, dust for fingerprints, collect evidence and photograph the scene of a crime. A cast of Beaulieu guides and actors will bring the story to life for event-goers to follow the murder trail around the Montagu family home.

Once the crime has been solved at the end of the trail, see how it feels to be locked inside a prison cell with a visit to the groundbreaking Prison Me! No Way! mobile prison cell van raising awareness for young people about the causes, consequences and penalties of crime.

Event demonstrations include the rescue of a celebrity casualty from the scene of a crash as the emergency services stage an extrication display on the Events Arena.

Expect the unexpected with a VIP kidnap which shows the role of bodyguards to protect potential targets from the threat of a real-life attack.

For family fun, see horses in the New Forest Agisters’ pound, dog skill demonstrations by the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service plus Police puppies and retired German Shepherds from the charity Pensions4Paws.

For motoring enthusiasts, the Blue Light Vehicle Preservation Group will also display some of its amazing collection of historic emergency services vehicles.

All of The 999 Show event features are included in a general admission ticket to Beaulieu. Entrance also offers access to the whole Beaulieu attraction, including the National Motor Museum and its collection of more than 250 vehicles, the World of Top Gear, On Screen Cars, the 13th century Beaulieu Abbey, Palace House – which has been home to the Montagu family since 1538 – and its stunning grounds and gardens.
