Coronation Big Lunch to take place in Portsmouth this weekend

Portsmouth’s Coronation Big Lunch will be taking place in Victoria Park on Sunday 7th May, with free live music and entertainment throughout the day.

The event will begin with a Teddy Bears’ picnic for children between 11am and 12:30pm. There will be storytelling on stage and a Teddy Bear’s Trail, along with other family activities. Tickets are free and will need to be pre-booked for this event.

From 12:30pm until 5pm, Live at Victoria Park will see a programme of live music and community performances in collaboration with The Wedgewood Rooms. There will be performances from The Floor Fillerz, South Coast Ghosts, EMZ All Stars, The Military Wives Choir and SD Studios. More artists and community acts are also to be announced.

Families are invited to bring a rug and a picnic, and there will also be some local food stalls in the park to get an ice cream or lunch. Picnic-goers will also be able to travel by bus for free, as the council has partnered with First Solent and Stagecoach to offer free travel on all bus routes starting within Portsmouth on Sunday 7th May.

Lydia Mellor, Events Manager at Portsmouth City Council, said: "With its own royal connections, Victoria Park is the perfect place to bring people together in the heart of the city for this historic celebration. It promises to be a fun-filled occasion for all ages with a jam-packed programme of free live music and entertainment.”

There will also be over 70 street parties happening across Portsmouth during the bank holiday weekend to mark the Coronation of His Majesty, King Charles III.
