Hampshire Constabulary are investigating an attempted robbery against a 23-year-old man in Somers Road, Portsmouth, in the early hours of Friday 7 December.
The man was walking home from a night out with a female friend at about 3.20am when a man pushing a bike approached them and asked the time.
As the woman got out her phone to look at the time, the suspect grabbed the man’s coat and demanded his phone and wallet. The suspect punched the victim several times with some sort of weapon. The victim fought back and both men ended up on the floor. The suspect then got up and rode off on the bike, in the direction of River Street.
Nothing was stolen during the attempted robbery, however the victim sustained bruises to his face and a bleeding nose.
The suspect was described as:
- White man
- Age 30-40-years-old
- 5’ 9” tall
- Medium build
- He was wearing a dark-coloured winter coat with the hood up.
