Hampshire County Council is encouraging people to start a conversation this Time to Talk Day

Time To Talk Day aims to help change perceptions around mental health problems.

One in four people will experience a mental health issue at some point in their lives. Councillor Patricia Stallard, Hampshire County Council’s Executive Member for Public Health, and the Authority’s Mental Health Champion, said: “Many of us are worried about opening up about how we feel. There’s no right or wrong way to do it. ‘Time to Talk Day’ is a chance for all of us to take five minutes to start a conversation. It could be as easy as making time to have a cup of tea, or go for a walk, and listening to someone talk about how they feel. Taking the first step can sometimes be all that’s needed.”

Time to Talk Day is a national event which takes place every year, and has become an opportunity to raise awareness of mental health issues and the five steps to mental wellbeing which can help to tackle stigma and reduce isolation.
