Portsmouth Library Service and The Reading Agency launch Reading well for children booklist

A Reading Well For Children booklist has been launched by Portsmouth Libraries with the aim of helping to support children's mental health and wellbeing.

There are 33 books covering various topics such as anxiety, bereavement and bullying, ADHD and dyslexia available free from Portsmouth libraries.

The books have been designed to suit a range of different reading levels with the hope that they will help encourage children to read together with their parents, siblings and carers.

Cllr Steve Pitt, Cabinet Member for Culture and City Development at Portsmouth City Council said: "This is a great opportunity for children to learn about mental health and I hope these books encourage children to talk openly about the subject. We know that when young people share their concerns and problems with those they trust, it can avoid more serious issues developing and also helps them to understand others around them."
