The new home of Pompey in the Community will benefit from considerably cheaper, greener energy - thanks to a six-figure donation from a Hampshire company.
The almost-built John Jenkins Stadium in Moneyfield Avenue is to become the charity’s permanent home, providing a base for its sport, education, health, inclusion, and disability projects.
Building work is nearing competition, and a large solar array has already been installed courtesy of long-term partner Utilita.
The energy supplier has paid for and facilitated the entire solar project, which is expected to cut energy costs of the site by more than 60% per year.
James Heyes, Head of Group Partnerships at Utilita, said:

Pompey in the Community, the charitable arm of Portsmouth Football Club, will use the new facility to serve more than 36,000 individuals each year through its various initiatives.

Named after D-Day veteran and life-long Pompey fan, the John Jenkins Stadium is in the final stages of construction with volunteers chipping in to complete the last features.
Working in partnership with Moneyfields FC, the site has been developed to facilitate more than just football, featuring all-weather pitches, a multi-use games area, a dance/yoga studio, boxing facilities, a community cafe, classrooms and more.
The solar array is to be officially unveiled today (Friday 3 November) by representatives of Utilita and Pompey in the Community.
