The future of Southsea's seafront is in your hands

Seafront masterplan review begins on Friday and you can have your say!

Following a major consultation on new sea defence proposals over the past year, the council will now consulting the public on their wider ambitions and aspirations for the seafront.

The council’s existing seafront masterplan was approved in 2013 and is intended to guide improvements to this area of Southsea. By reviewing the masterplan now, we can ensure that all the opportunities that are created by the construction of the new sea defences can be realised in the future.

Staff from the council's planning team will be on hand at the following exhibition events to see what you think about a range of options for future improvements on the seafront:

Cllr Ben Dowling, cabinet member for planning, regeneration and economic development said: "Many of the things that people were concerned about or were suggesting to us at some of our previous consultation events sit outside the remit of Southsea Coastal Scheme, so we decided to review the seafront masterplan now so we could capture all the great ideas that residents have. We want this city to have a world-class seafront that fully realises Southsea's unique position and heritage, and this masterplan will provide us with the blueprint to achieve this".
